Just a few weeks ago, Sentient Ruin (US) and Clavis Secretorum (EU) finally released a forgotten US black metal gem for the first time ever on vinyl. You can see the staggering result below. Frankly, it is an utter mystery what took this long for this black metal monster to see the light on wax. Shaidar Logoth‘s long lost masterpiece Chapter II: The Ritualist was initially released back in 2015 on tape by cult underground tape label Sol Y Nieve, and although the record didn’t take long to slowly slip into obscurity, its wretched enormity was instantly blatant…
Shaidar Logoth craft black metal of unseen majesty and of utmost wretchedness. In a vein similar to that of bands like Leviathan, Funeral Mist, or Antaeus, Shaidar Logoth are capable of conveying misery in aural form with unparalleled mastery and lucidly, all while constantly building an immanent sense of grandeur and of imposing magnificence. With its four vast and massive songs clocking in at nearly ten minutes on average each, Chapter II: The Ritualist is a work which draws the listener to a place of unnameable torment, weaving savage and primordial black metal with drone, dark ambient and a barrage of twisted and wretched atmospherics to instigate in the listener a sense of sprawling unease and of lucid terror.
Chapter II: The Ritualist is officially out now on vinyl, and you can finally own a copy of this masterpiece of black wax courtesy of Sentient Ruin in the USA (get it here or on their Bandcamp) or of Clavis Secretorum in the EU (get it here, here, or on their Bandcamp).
