“‘Sex Breath’ was the first song written and completed for ‘Mercy Machine’. I wanted something very simple and direct, in your face and punk-y. Gottfrid Åhman put his signature on there with the guitar trills in the verses. ‘I wanna see you from a brand new angle’; not very ambiguous, the song is about the power of sexual energy, in different forms. Alexandra Macia is a very talented experimental sound and video artist here in Berlin. For this video she merged her analog style with our rock n’ roll track perfectly.”
Berlin-based noise rock-meets hard rock trio MAGGOT HEART – lead by Swedish guitarist & vocalist Linnéa Olsson – released their sophomore album “Mercy Machine” earlier this year to much critical acclaim. Since forming in 2016, Olsson and her band have earned themselves a respectable following in the heavy music underground due to their highly unique mix of noise rock emotionality, Voivod-esque riffing, and punk rock ethos. As Brooklyn Vegan said about “Mercy Machine”: It’s dark and catchy and swaggering and finds the middle ground between Blue Öyster Cult and Siouxsie and The Banshees.
The band spent most of 2018 and 2019 on tour with acts like Earthless, Voivod, Okkultokrati, and King Dude. Now they’re releasing a new video for the track “Sex Breath” – directed by the experimental video artist Alexandra Macia. Highlighting their live energy, the video is a much-needed rock n’ roll shot in the arm for a scene currently on hold.
“Mercy Machine” is out now via Rapid Eye Records. The album was co-produced and mixed by Martin “Konie” Ehrencrona (Viagra Boys, In Solitude, Obliteration).
