I would never say that I’m a Death Rock specialist, but I will say that I have been an active listener to the genre since 1981. I saw 45 Grave live in the 80s more times than I can count and danced my ass off at Fetish Club in Hollywood during the 80s. This is all to say I know my ears and spirit recognize stellar Death Rock within seconds of hearing it. I must say that the new Prince Midnight tape “Dispirited Kingdom” is some of the sickest music from this genre that I have heard in years! The vocalist sounds like he drank the blood of Roz Williams and delivers a stunning performance of every song! Musically, Prince Midnight pushes their sound past the 80’s into a sonic space that most bands never reach.
