As I watch Dark Worship‘s video for their single “We’ve Always Been Here” I’m reminded again about the human arrogance that paints our history as one of ultimate progress. Maybe it’s the scathing screams electrifying my spine, maybe it’s the pulsating industrial clamor that sounds like factories pumping out new thneeds every second of every day. Maybe it’s the Hรคxan-inspired visuals that showcase just one of our millions of witchhunts that keep us in a constant state of fear and defensiveness and conformity to those who feel they’re above us. But “We’ve Always Been Here” is reminding me that, indeed, we’ve always been hereโburning each other, judging each other, oppressing each other. And that maybe if we just took a second to acknowledge and understand the cycles we keep repeating, we’d be able to step out of them and walk a straight line.
โWe’ve Always Been Here” is off their record Flesh Of A Saint via Tartarus Records on February 25th โ pre-order it here. Right now, we’re excited to share their video for โWe’ve Always Been Here” below…
The video for “We’ve Always Been Here” is based on the Swedish silent film Hรคxan (released in the US as Witchcraft Through the Ages in 1968, now public domain) and various found footage. Vocals provided by Joe Reed (To Dust, EXORCISME) the track is an abrasive take on electronically produced music.
