As an active force in Tucson’s heavy music scene for the better part of the last decade, Sex Prisoner has blasted quite the name for themselves outside Arizona. Like Charles Bronson on steroids, their powerviolence is relentless, even as genre standards go, and appropriately, proudly violent. Tomorrow will see the release of their first proper full-length, Tannhäuser Gate, a sixteen track arsenal primed to decapitate, eviscerate and all around satiate your violent pitting needs.
“Creaking Door,” premiering here today, is one of the heaviest offerings Sex Prisoner has produced, and that’s not something stated lightly, given their back catalog. At a mere and standard minute or so, this Tucsonan quartet manages to cram as much face-breaking, headbanging juiciness as allowable into such a short span. Opening with thrumming death metal grooviness, “Creaking Door” moves on shotgun legs, blasting away with each weighty step, with their dueling vocals espousing every form of fury imaginable. Prepare for this assault and then some when Tannhäuser Gate premieres tomorrow.
Preorders are available now from Deep Six Records and Regurgitated Semen Records.
Catch them on the dates below, including gigs with Infest at Southwest Terror Fest and Weekend Nachos’s final Chicago dates.
