Sometimes I sit back and think about how minute my own existence is. When I’m in the grips of anxiety, it helps me to remember that I’m vastly smaller than a subatomic particle in the known scheme of the universe. Music like Thisquietarmy’s new release The Singularity, Phase II, for his collab project with Michel “Away” Langevin of Voivod, reminds me that somewhere miles above my head the air bubble keeping me alive ends and space begins. Almost none of us earthlings will ever leave that bubble in our lifetimes—except for billionaires like Jeff Bezos (please, for all our sakes, take a second to sign this petition denying him re-entry to Earth), who are happy to burn up our planet because they can afford to get off it if need be. Seems like a pretty bad strategy, because where the fuck are they going to go? Anyway, the closest I can get to experiencing the unimaginable expanse of space is listening to sci-fi drone like the gorgeous sonics of THISQUIETARMY X AWAY. The record comes out on June 20th via P572 Records — pre-order it here. If you haven’t yet heard their first collab record, The Singularity, Phase I, you can hear that right here. Right now, sit down with just your mind, our full stream of The Singularity, Phase II, and let the comforting darkness of space envelop your imagination.
