I write this from a place of wonderment! I write this from a place of caustic love for the band FANGE! Unholy HELL YES, their newest album Perdition only proves that this band is truly in a league of them vs them. Time after time, this band can transform Sludge into something that only they could do! Imagine if Eyehategod, Prong, Godflesh, and Indian all got together to record a record that would cause a shift in the game — FANGE’s Perdition would be it. I’m amazed at how this band are able to shapeshift all of their influences into a Sonic Universe that only could be done by them. On songs like “La Haine (Bernard Lavilliers)” and “Lèche-Béton,” they drag the listener into a world of filth only to pummel you with their maniacal caustic Industrial Sludge Storm of hate! One thing that jumps out to me is that on some tracks, they even lean into almost a Grunge vibe. That being said, FANGE are totally comfortable in their creative skin and for that reason, I know why Perdition works on all levels. The energy and vocals on the rad song “Désunion Sacrée” are perfect and transcendental. I want FANGE to know that we have been fans from day one, and nothing has changed with the release of Perdition, which is out now via Throatruiner Records.
