Experience the Dynamic Deathrock Punk of WET SPECIMENS ‘Over Pale Bodies’

It’s time to turn y’all on to one of the sickest records of 2023 by the band called Wet Specimens. The record itself is called Over Pale Bodies and it’s out now via RunState Tapes (cassettes) and Brain Slash Records (vinyl). Unholy hell fucking yes, this collection of songs is the straight fucking JAM! Imagine Theatre of Pain-era CHRISTIAN DEATH mixed with 45 Grave mixed with Discharge mixed with Alien Sex Fiend — the outcome just might sound like Wet Specimens. From the moment “Above the Catacombs” kicks in with those HUGE drums, you’ll realize that this band is on some other shit. They have figured out a way to take their influences and shape them into a sonic gothic beast that is their own. I love the currency that all of this band’s compositions possess. As a person who came of age in the 80s SoCal Deathrock, I can say with my chest that Wet Specimens would have had all of the tribes united (Deathrockers, Peace Punks, Hardcore Kids, and Dis-punx) in their love for this band’s sound! When I hear songs like “Cadaver Synod,” I can’t help but say how amazing this band truly is. Their riffs reek of cob-webbed passion and soar with bat cave intensity! I want everyone who is a part of Wet Specimens to know that I totally feel where y’all are coming from!
