I’m gonna start this post with a qualifier: I’m Canadian, so like the majority of the population of my country, I don’t understand the American fascination with guns. Carrying them around, keeping them in drawers and glove compartments, and randomly shooting our fellow citizens at a seriously alarming rate. Saying that you own guns to protect yourself from the government, but actually just using them to shoot yourselves and your family members. Don’t get offended; it’s just a fact that most of the rest of the world doesn’t see the appeal of collecting vehicles for murder. Guess it’s just one of those things that makes America great, to other Americans.
Anyway, I do like cats. And that’s one thing that me and these gun owners have in common. If it wasn’t for the internet, and people’s propensity to share weird stuff with each other, I wouldn’t know that. Cats are cute, and I guess the people posting these photos enjoy the juxtaposition between innocent cats nuzzling killing machines. I kinda do, too, but with all the serial killer research I’ve done, I can’t help but see the irony behind pairing a thirst for death (seriously, why else own a gun?) and small animals. If you like cats and/or gats, enjoy this collection of portraits pulled from the r/Gatcat thread.
