I feel like I just stuck my hands deep in the murk and muck of my emails and pulled out a glistening gem of dreamy post-punk shoegaze! I did, and it goes by the name of Karate, Guns & Tanning, whose name makes me think about some of my favorite things – namely Cobra Kai, gun control, and SPF. Right now I’m watching their video for their single “Fire” and I don’t know what I’m enjoying more, the insane psychedelic visuals dancing on my retinas or the gorgeous fantastical sounds pouring into my ears! It’s off their debut album Concrete Beach which is out on March 26th – you can pre-order it here. Concrete Beach was born out of restlessness and pent-up aggression, further intensified by the ambient dread of the early months of the pandemic.
