Chimpyfest 2018
This DIY festival in it’s 6th years is difficult to sum up in words or it might be that I have temporary brain damage after my brain was reduced to a pile of goo after a blistering three days of grriiiind
so I’ll keep it short and sweet. They promise fast and boy do they deliver, with a little bit of slow in between just to break things up a bit

You get the picture (and if you don’t there are plenty of those coming up) all with a heart warming and healthy dose of antifascism mixed in (especially from the likes of punky old timers Oi Polloi, and crusty/hardcore punk/grindy acts also from the 80’s, Doom and Extreme Noise Terror . A few logistical problems cause some band delays which resulted in Extreme Noise Terror and Doom not performing till gone midnight but this gal is used to events running on punk time and who wants the party to finish at 11 anyway.
It was a time and a half with good vibes all round (if you forget about the super authoritarian bouncers attempting and failing to prevent moshing and crowd surfing and generally trying to have an excellent time)
Chimpyfest remains one of my favourite festivals, despite generally being more of a doom head, the energy and manic grins and thrashing of limbs from people from all walks of life, all ages all shapes and sizes and genders all screaming for equality in between blast beats makes for a fucking jolly good time. Grind forever!!
