Dear Rainer Maria,
I want you to know how much your music means to me and how it makes me feel. As humans, sometimes we need to hear sounds that make us believe in ourselves. So when I hear a song like “Never In Anger,” I think about when I did not want to smile anymore, not knowing this feeling would one day pass. People call bands like Rainer Maria emo (I get it), but I call them a band that pushes the listener towards their emotions.
Today is a good day to be alive, but I found music like this when I did not want to breathe anymore. Bands like Rainer Maria saved my life and became the soundtrack to my rebirth. So when I listen to emotive tunes like “New York, 1955,” I rejoice at the fact that I made it out of my depression and now exist in a place of inner peace, not turmoil. Rainer Maria will always have a place in people’s reality, because it speaks to the human condition that we all face. Your two vocalists sound so good together, and your time signatures are so fucking uplifting they make me SMILE! Big tunes like “Broken Radio” have the IT factor that make me never want it to end.
When Rainer Maria started as a band, the world was a different place, but certain things have not changed. I want to say thank you to Rainer Maria for coming together and creating music that will truly stand the test of time as long as humans walk this earth.
