The most transformational thing I have ever done to support myself is to stop self-medicating. I used alcohol for many years to numb and obscure my feelings, not realizing that I was trading a temporary fix for even more prolonged and exaggerated anxiety and agony. The first time I had to sit with my feelings sober was overwhelming, but I realized that however long it took for me to feel the pain, it did pass eventually. By practicing meditation, I learned to recognize what I was feeling, observe and accept it, and let it go in its own time. But in that thrall of grief, heartbreak, sadness, it’s hard to believe that there will ever be a time free of it.
MELDAMOR‘s new single “In This Moment” is the soundtrack to those moments. I can feel their pulsating, post punk industrial hammering in my throat, the mournful synths clutching at my heart, the wailing vocals bursting from my chest. They’ve created a song that immerses the listener in their worst moments, but at the same time, a song to dance it all away. Today we’re stoked to be sharing their new video for “In This Moment” directed by Jorge Santacruz. It’s off their new record My Ode To You is out August 8th — pre-save it here and get hard copies via their IG. Watch it here:
