I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to Glaare’s 2017 release To Deaf and a Day. Over and over. It’s gotten me through some tough times. So I’m beyond happy to hear that they’ve got a new album in the works, Your Hellbound Heart, that comes out on April 30th via Weyrd Son Records – pre-order it here. Today I’m excited to share a song from the new release with you, “Divine Excess (Feat. Ross Farrar).” It’s got the beauty, the sadness, and the addictive beat of their previous release, but with an even smoother sound. I can already tell that this album is going to be a regular spin for us! Lots of love to my Glaare family! Right now, get lost in Glaare’s dreamy melancholy melodies…
The narrative is essentially a conversation with your shadow where you’re ridiculing your actions and mutilating yourself by failing to understand the nature of your ego. Having a rigid core of beliefs that you take as doctrine and what happens when you break them. The judgment and lack of ability to reconcile with yourself.
The song features guest vocals from a borrowed Ross Farrar (Ceremony / Spice / Crisis Man) in our living room on a brutally hot summer day in the pandemic.
