This is black metal that’s got its fingers deep in the dirt of rock n’ roll. It’s the new single from Annihilus called “Matthew,” off his forthcoming album Ghanima, which means “Spoils of War” in Fremen – and yes, the album does take inspiration from Dune as well as Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman. Luca Cimariusti (Luggage, Basic Cable, Heavy Times) is the one man behind the madness I’m listening to, and I’m digging his inspiration and his sounds. I feel like this is what Satan would pop into his cassette player while he’s ripping down the highway from Hell in his burning beastmobile! Not very sci-fi-esque, but it’s an image I can see immortalized on the comic book page.
