NYC’s Grisly Past Crimes Through the Eyes of MARC HERMANN

Marc Hermann

Photographer and historian Marc Hermann wants us to remember that in a city like New York, every square foot has its story. He found images of crime scenes and disasters on the NYC streets from New York Daily News and merged them with his photos of the same spot in present day. For me, it’s making me think of block universe theory, where linear time is an illusion and every event that has ever happened is coexisting at the same point. That’s a concept I find near impossible to wrap my mind around, but these time-collage images from Marc Hermann give my mind something to go off of. Check them out below…

Meghan MacRae grew up in Vancouver, Canada, but spent many years living in the remote woods. Living in the shadow of grizzly bears, cougars and the other predators of the wilderness taught her about the dark side of nature, and taught her to accept her place in nature's order as their prey. She is co-founder of CVLT Nation.
