BEDLAM AGO GO’s Estate Style Entertainment is one of the GREATEST Trip Hop albums ever made hands down! This band never got the shine they deserve and I’m not sure why. I have a feeling it came down to marketing, plus I really feel that they were before their time. I’m just saying, they created this groundbreaking album 25 years ago and it’s the perfect blend of Punk – Dub – Hip Hop – Trip Hop and so much more. Vocally and lyrically, Leigh Stephen Kenny was in his bag. He wrote about mental health, race relations, and the human condition. His vocal delivery is so on point to me, and his passion for and overstanding of music bleeds through on every tune. I have to give his sister Rhianna her props, because she sings some of the songs with him and kills it!
When I hear songs like “Asylum” I still get chills, and DUB vibes are fucking majestic. Again, I got to say that Leigh was so on point when he wrote these lyrics. I feel as if Estate Style Entertainment was created for those that didn’t have a voice in the UK to speak up for truth and rights. Real talk, BEDLAM AGO GO created a Milliant Reggae album that has sonic power that many Reggae records never obtain. Better yet this album is more Punk than most punk records because it just does not give a fuck! “Demons In The Reefa” is another tune that speaks to me on a deep level and the production is pure audio perfection! This album has stood the test of time and 25 years after its release, Estate Style Entertainment is the best Trip Hop album you have never heard!
