Belgium’s cult doom band LA MUERTE has a new record coming out that’s been described as “a scorching soundtrack to the apocalypse,” so you know that caught our attention. And when I hit play on the title track on Sortilegia, I immediately caught the unrelenting destruction vibe that phrase conjures. Listening to this record feels like watching everything around me razed by uncontrollable fires that are hellbent on clearing every trace of humanity from the land. It’s the kind of pummelling, industrial-tinged doom that calls on the gods and goddesses to stop standing idly by while we mindlessly destroy their divine creations with rampant consumerism while we reward those who use the most and kill the most. It’s fucked, and we are asking for it as long as we continue to call extinction, destruction, and exploitation inevitable and just. Sortilegia is out via Consouling Sounds on November 25th — get the CD here and get the vinyl here. Now hit play on our full album stream and let Sortilegia trample you under cloven hooves…
LA MUERTE will be back in Brussels to present their brand new album Sortilegia, on January 25th, 2023. It will be their first live appearance in the Belgian capital since their last gig at the Ancienne Belgique, exactly 4 years ago (12/01/2019).
