As soon as I hit play on their video for “I’ve Forgotten How To Be Alone,” the gorgeously suffocating atmosphere they create takes over my being. They’re able to take sound and shape it into something both comforting and unnerving at the same time. SUNDR taps into the space where pain meets pleasure. A love; erroneous, shrouded in dirt. Blood runs gold, return to earth. Digging the wound, pulling the nerve, breathing through ash, fathom the hurt. Wretched empath I am. Cultivating these losses and truths. Withering flora, revel in numb abandon. Experience love through this lens. Callous and claw forward, on silent entropy and fractured nail. Void in the eye, wound in the palm. Hold. Sit with it. If I can meditate to the grinding of teeth. Drained of all colour, the walls askew. Pacing, I’ve forgotten how to be alone.
