What You Fear Will Come Upon You… DYLAN GARRETT SMITH Exhibition

What’s your greatest fear? As a species, human beings have struggled to cope with the concept of death, finding a myriad of ways to represent and ritualize it in order to come to terms with its inevitability. Death is a blessing, death is a curse, but it is always the unknown. This is the idea that Dylan Garrett Smith has come to explore in his current exhibition, What You Fear Will Come Upon You at Central Tattoo Studio in Philadelphia. His striking works of corpse pale ash and chalk on black paper will be on display until March 27th, and are worth the journey to witness in person. Dylan was one of the first people to reach out to us and share his artwork with us when we started CVLT Nation, and we have it hanging on our wall to this day. These pieces wholly encompass his ability to honour the decay of life and wreath death with beauty. Check out a selection of the pieces that are up at Central Tattoo and make sure head over before the 27th!

Living in the shadow of grizzly bears, cougars and the other predators of the wilderness taught her about the dark side of nature, and taught her to accept her place in nature's order as their prey.
