Today I want you to enter the dark hallways of STRANGE HOUSE, the work of Norwegian illustrator and tattoo artist Joonas Ryynänen. His illustrations look like something carved into a medieval wood block while the artist channeled the fury of the bleakest black metal through his veins! With the stark contrast of black ink on a solid color background, I wouldn’t expect to see as much movement and wrath in his subjects. These images burst from the page, spraying blood and mucus; they creep and slink out of the frame; they glare and stare with beady eyes. I’m enthralled by Ryynänen’s artwork, and I can’t imagine how amazing these illustrations would be as tattoos! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do…
