Sacramence first came to my attention with their early tapes ov raw black metal, real “grab you by the throat with cold hands emerging from some far off murky hole” stuff. So I was a little surprised to hear last year’s Lovers Seek Dominance, a tour de force blending Industrial, Ambient, Noise and even Synth Pop. I liked it so much I released their next tape Tantrum on my own label. I was stoked to hear they have a new double tape on the way via NY label Found Remains.
Sacramence is the brainchild ov one guy, S Jordan, who brings in some collaborators for each release. The last two releases deal thematically with the cult of christ. The newest release Cremations deals with the theme ov dead love and lost love, against the backdrop ov a dying society. Musically, across the tracks we hear abrasive noise, sorrowful synths, synth pop melody, chanted and whispered vocals and heavy electronic percussion.
The tape release is split into 2 albums; one has 7 new tracks dealing with themes above and comes with a bonus CS of a couple new remixes, a b-side, and 4 live tracks.
Cremations is available 15th ov december on Found Remains bandcamp on digital and on their webstore here in a 2 x CS format.
