DANAVA celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and in the words of Mike Scheidt from YOB, “they’re pretty much set to show the current rock and roll universe how it’s done.” If you thought time would temper their rock n’ roll spirit, you were dead wrong. Their new single “Enchanted Villain” is exactly what NWOBHM should sound like in 2023 — weird wizards shooting rainbow lasers out of their eyes in a technicolor fungus world! Maybe it’s the starship capsules I took this weekend, but I swear that’s what’s going on in my head while I listen to this rifflicious masterpiece of a song. It’s got a doom groove, ominous occult atmosphere, thundering drums, riffs that don’t quit, and vocals that wail. This song would be fun as hell to hear live, so make sure you check out their upcoming March & April tour dates below. “Enchanted Villain” is off their 20th-anniversary album Nothing But Nothing which comes out April 28th via Tee Pee Records — pre-order it here. The single officially comes out this Friday, but you get to hear it right here and now:
