The bass tones that kick off WITCHFINDER‘s new Endless Garden EP let me know that what I’m about to experience is HEAVY. The crushing percussion and mammoth riffs feel like they’re trying to lay me out flat, but there’s a gorgeous melodic play between the vocals and the riffs that keeps me lifted. Lifted like my mind on Indica floating above my lethargic body. The EP comes out tomorrow, June 3rd, via Mrs Red Sound — pre-order it here. If you’re looking for some well-crafted stoner doom to soothe your soul in these turbulent times, look no further than Endless Garden, which we’re streaming below…
With the keyboard integrated in our sound we want to accentuate some parts in our songs, giving a more occult-like effect that makes us think of old 70’s horror movies. We think you will have some surprises and hope you’ll like it as much as we do. On the EP we wanted to make something a bit shiny, that makes us think about memories, bad and good ones. To represent this in an image we called Maciej Kamuda, who understood our needs and gave us a hell of an artwork! We can’t thank Haldor enough who did such great work recording and mixing us. He gave us something the heaviness we dreamed about. With the keyboard added to our music we want to give more profound feelings to the listeners with an esoteric and occult tone.
Truly everything started with “Dans l’instant” on our second album. We loved the organ at the end and Stan wanted to compose with that instrument on the new album. Endless Garden is starting something new for us and we want to go deeper in this direction. The horror, heaviness with some subtle moments!
