From the early moments of listening to the new split from Italian post-rock bands RIAH and POSTVORTA, I’m utterly captivated. When I hit play on RIAHPSTVRT I felt as if I’d been transported into a sonic dreamscape, where I floated like a spirit in the ether, riding waves of twinkling, burning stars, and soaring, grinding mountains. They present the perfect dichotomy of grace and destruction that characterizes our universe. What we admire was formed from pure pain and sacrifice, and by ignoring this we ignore the truth of our own existence and our place in the cosmos. Life is made from blood and screams and torment and shit and bliss. Death makes way for growth and healing and ascension and sorrow.
