Listening to SPITTING IMAGE makes me feel like I’m a teenager in the 20th Century just discovering punk and finally finding an outlet for all of my frustrations and validation for all of my anti-establishment ethics. They’ve got a sound that reminds me of the transition period between debauched rock n’ roll and the punk rock revolution and I dig it! Today Spitting Image released their Full Sun LP via Slovenly Recordings and you can get it here. You can also listen to it in full below! And you should because it’s fucking Friday.
We’re hyped to have brought this LP into life. It feels like a wide-ranging and deep connection with our individual ideas and inclinations. And in that, it sounds and feels like a Spitting Image record. We’re never driven by a particular sound, effect, or genre but more by the punk ethos of curiosity, collaboration, and experimentation. So putting an album of songs together helps to define itself and form something surprising and larger than we can yet even hear or know. And as a collection of moments or events, it starts to take on a cinematic feel, like some slow desert trip on perception and consciousness, real demons and guardians, time and change, love and death. The big, nourishing, Romantic punk ideas. We’re thrilled to be getting this thing into the world to see how it reflects, so we might better know it.
