From her studio in Kiev, Ukraine, Polina Verbyts’ka lovingly and carefully sculpts and paints some of the most disturbing jewelry pieces I’ve ever seen. They’re fleshy and wrinkled in all the right places, gooey and glistening like our mucous membranes. They definitely look like something a sadistic serial killer would keep as trophies to hang from his lobes and adorn his body with. These look like the perfect social distancing accessories, because who the fuck is going to get close to you when you’re wearing a terrifyingly realistic severed tongue, or a necklace of tiny severed hands?
