California has never failed to deliver all the post-punk we need and San Diego assemblage The Passengers is no exception. Started as a basement project by Adam Bixel in 2017, they’ve now grown to indignant quartet plaguing the desert lands with a markedly bleak air. Killing it on endless single-note leads on guitar while simultaneously surrendering Eldritch-esque bellows, Bixel cements his band’s name in the canon of upsetting dark punk aggregate. Its moods stand out with well thought out, intentional rises and falls leaving plenty of space to ruminate on just why you adhere to such disconsolate dirges.
At the moment they’re hitting the ground running and heading straight for disconsolate venues everywhere so keep your ears to the ground for more from these saturnine satyrs.
