Today I’m on some straight bugged out shit…I want to share with you CVLT Nation’s Top 13 Ruff & Rugged Golden Era Hip Hop videos. During the late 80’s until the mid 90’s, my love of everything hip hop was large! When me and my homies were living during this time, we never thought we were living in the Golden Era. We almost thought this period would last forever, but we were wrong. For many different reasons, this genre lost it’s innocence and became co-opted by the mainstream. These visuals represent a time when artists had to come to correct, and no biting was allowed. You can see by these 13 different videos, there was a high level of creativity. For a time, Hip-Hop really did have the rebellious spirit that punk once had…Both of these genres had a lot in common – but that is a whole other feature.
