What’s a trip about history is realizing that all of human life has happened in the blink of an eye. Most of us live with the fallacy that what we experience in our lifetime is how it’s always been, and so years like 2020 are a sucker punch of epic proportions. We no longer feel safe, because our safety was invested in the infallibility of our way of life. But when you realize that we’re in a constant state of change; that massive changes and shifts in beliefs, consciousness, and systems happen in every generation; and that our lifespan is about half that of a tortoise, you begin to see the futility of clinging to stasis. Watching the video that sludge band Piece has created for their song “Titan Age” has me ruminating on every time humanity has claimed to have reached the pinnacle of existence, and every time it’s been ripped away. Their unrelenting, punishing but melodic sounds are reminding me to open myself up to the chaos and flow with it instead of hiding from it. To work in harmony with the universe and to recognize the weakness and false promises of those who claim to be in control of the outcomes. It’s the first single off their forthcoming release coming out in 2021 via Soulwrecked Records, and we’re excited to share the video for it with you below! Also, make sure you check out their split with Vancouver’s Empress below!
