One of the genre groups we’ve been most excited about in the past couple years is the rise in shoegaze and dream pop bands. And one of the labels that’s been consistently bringing quality to the table is LA’s felte — and today I’m grooving out one of their bands, Mexico City’s MINT FIELD. As I listen to their new single, “Sensibilidad dormida,” I’m struck by the crispness of their sound juxtaposed with a fuzzy, foggy ether floating throughout the song. With influences ranging from trip hop to electronic to the aforementioned dream pop, Mint Field are coming from a direction of their own. The drums create a psychedelic atmosphere as do the echoing riffs, and the lilting vocals invite me into an altered state of mind. Their new mini-LP Aprender A Ser: Extended is out via felte on August 30th — get it here. Right now, listen to “Sensibilidad dormida” here:
