Italy’s doom treasure and outstanding foursome Messa unveil the second single and video from their acclaimed latest album Feast For Water (Aural Music). “She Knows” is Messa’s boldest experiment, as no longer content with the seventies lounge feel, they dive headlong into black metal riffs and the howls of “Tulsi” that reveal the complex musical influences bearing on this Northern Italian quartet.
The video takes place in Venice, a city located in the Italian area where Messa came from. “The city is feminine, elegant and dazzling,” the band and Laura Sans, the director of the video, say. “The weight of her background, really diverse, won’t stop her to go ahead and look for new riffs. Pretty and stylish, she becomes rebellious and wild every night. During winter, she pretends to sleep, but she follows every step, and records every echo around the dead streets. And even if she looks fragile, she is one of the strongest, that keeps alive after floods and wars. This video will submerge you into the Venetian winter atmosphere.”
“Then was not non-existent nor existent: there was no realm of air, no sky beyond it. What covered in, and where? and what gave shelter? Was water there, unfathomed depth of water?” The Rig Veda/Mandala 10/Hymn 129
Messa will play at Roadburn on April 12th and they’ll be on tour around Europe in May with Sabbath Assembly.
