See the Stunning Macro Nature Photography of JAVIER RUPEĢREZ

Do you ever think about how limited human sense are? We are practically blind and deaf to the world around us. At the same time, we believe we are all-seeing and all-knowing. We go around crushing insects, spraying them with poison, and decimating their habitats. If this is how we treat the smallest creatures of the planet, what does that say about us as a species? Macro photographer Javier RupĆ©rez has opened my eyes to just how breathtakingly designed these minute creatures are. They make us look like boring skin bags by comparison. In RupĆ©rez’s photos, butterflies have scales, spiders have expressive eyes, beetles have vibrant textures, and flies are beautiful. Where our eyes see pests, these macro photos show us the delicate, gorgeous, alien perfection that’s living all around us. Check out RupĆ©rez’s work below, and think twice the next time you want to extinguish a life out of fear and superiority…

Meghan MacRae grew up in Vancouver, Canada, but spent many years living in the remote woods. Living in the shadow of grizzly bears, cougars and the other predators of the wilderness taught her about the dark side of nature, and taught her to accept her place in nature's order as their prey.
