Admittedly, I dropped the ball on last year’s JJ AND THE A’s debut on La Vida Es Un Mus. Somehow it slipped through the cracks and I’m still kicking myself for missing out on this rad band for nearly a year. Fortunately for me they’ve dropped their second EP Eyeballer, and they now have my full attention. Starting with the pogo-inducing “Generation,” each song here is a full blown fuzzy garage punk explosion including killer organ that calls to mind Nuggets and Pebbles comps while retaining the punk attitude and spirit of Killed By Death comps. The write up on their band camp mentions inspiration from DETROIT COBRAS, ELECTRIC PRUNES, and SoCal punk like T.S.O.L. and ADOLESCENTS; in other words, this shit absolutely rocks. Don’t sleep on JJ AND THE A’s like I did, check this out and snag their Eyeballer EP, out now on La Vida Es Un Mus.
