I consider myself a pretty brave person and I don’t get phased easily in scary situations. I can lean into my fight response. But there’s no fucking way I wouldn’t lose my shit if someone put a giant millipede in my mouth or on my face, even if it’s name is Mr. Wiggles. But somehow the members of HELP sat there with straight faces for their video for “The Consequence” as Mr. Wiggles went wild. The audio chaos that ensues sounds like my nervous system kicking into high gear as I watch this video, calamitous percussion and catastrophic vocals and crying guitars. HELP’s new Courage EP comes out on October 11th via Three One G Records — pre-order it here. Watch our premiere of their video for “The Consequence” below…
The Consequence video all came to light when I was hanging with my good buddy Daniel Fickle, who makes great things. We were talking about making a video and I mentioned that “Dig” by Mudvayne is one of my favorite music videos. We just rolled from there and started brainstorming. A day before the shoot he texted me and asked if we should have a millipede in the video. Since I’m not an idiot, I said “duh.” Mr. Wiggles was on the call sheet. Then Bim cut his hair like Keith Flint and BOOM, music video. We shot at Desert Island Studios and it was a blast. It’s really nice to have talented friends who enjoy your art form and you enjoy theirs. There is nothing I would change about the experience.
