On September 7 2018, Sentient Ruin and German dark soundscape label Cyclic Law will release the new masterpiece from San Francisco ritualistic dark ambience sorcerers Common Eider King Eider. A Wound of Body is the first part of their brand new “Wound” duology – two separate releases linked sonically, visually and spiritually, together forming the group’s most focused and fully realized work to date. The two releases together will offer up a sprawling, audial exploration of wounds at once physical and spiritual, social and societal, natural and environmental.
Sonically, A Wound Of Body is a beautifully stark soundscape, dolorously dense, suffocatingly oppressive and utterly claustrophobic. An immersive black hole of bleak, cavernous drone music and disquieting, desolate ambience, each track a hushed and harrowing ritual; the surface minimalism underpinned by a churning morass of sound, a layered liturgy of blackened invocations and nebulous strings hovering in the shadows.
A Wound Of Body is slated for a release September 7 2018 on tape and LP for the US from Sentient Ruin (pre-order here and here), and on CD and LP for the EU from Cyclic Law (Pre-order here), and today we’re proud to unveil a first track taken from this mesmerizing and shapeshifting mass of crawling aural darkness in the form of second track Sinew Stretched Over Crumbling Bones.
