Billie 0cean is Lanéya Billingsley, an experimental filmmaker and videographer whose work is slick and slimy and transcends any tactile amphibious experiences I have had on Planet Earth. Her short films and music videos feel like they’re from another dimension, and watching them is like getting the smallest glimpse into a place that defies physics as we know it. And imagine my surprise when I read this interview where she talks about this otherworldly place actually being inside of me, inside of all of us. It all kind of makes sense now: the familiarity, the dreamlike dystopia, the neverending wetness. Her digital labyrinth entitled Wound via New Art City is so weird and creepy and awesome that I just got lost in it for 20 minutes while writing this post.
