Here Comes the Candyman: The Horrific Crimes of DEAN CORLL

As someone who’s fascinated by serial killers, I read, listen to, and see a lot of gruesome human behaviour. But I never stop being shocked, I’m never immune to the horror of a dead body in a crime scene photo, I’m never apathetic to the suffering of the people they murder. So I’m going to say it for the millionth time on these pages, but I mean it: what DEAN CORLL did to the estimated 28 (and more) boys he murdered was truly depraved and horrific. He roped in a couple of teenage accomplices, 12-year-old David Owen Brooks and 15-year-old Elmer Wayne Henley, to help him procure and abduct the boys he murdered. He paid them $200 each for the boys they brought to him, telling Henley he was a part of a Dallas white slavery ring and would be trafficking the boys. Brooks knew what Corll was actually up to, because he witnessed Corll assaulting two tied up teenage boys. He himself was also assaulted by Corll. Henley soon found out what was actually going on, and ended up participating in the torture and murder of the boys.

On the last night of his life, Corll decided to assault and torture his two accomplices, because he was mad that Henley had brought another friend, a 15-year-old girl named Rhonda Williams, with them over to his house. After he had tied the three up, and was preparing to begin his assault, Henley woke up and managed to talk Corll into untying him and allowing him to participate in the torture of the other two. Corll agreed, and asked Henley to attack and murder the girl while he attacked Brooks. Rhonda asked Henley, “is this real?” When he told her yes, this was actually about to happen, she said, “Are you going to do anything about it?” These words penetrated Henley’s psyche, and he grabbed Corll’s gun and shot him several times, wounding and then killing him.

Henley would recall that immediately after he shot Corll, the sole thought in his mind was that Corll would have been proud of the way he had behaved during the confrontation, adding that Corll had been training him to react quickly and forcefully and that this was exactly what he had done.

The full story is so sick and twisted, you’re gonna have to get it from this documentary and not from me:
