Lorenzo Alessandri (1927-2000) was an Italian post-war master of all things surreal and fantastical. He even started a movement combining those two genres, which he entitled “Surfanta.” His work combines a grotesque sexuality and morbid fascination in a way that makes his art riveting. His colors are stunning and vivid, his subjects provocative and beautifully repulsive. Psychedelic images of genitalia, blue women and anthropomorphized beasts are the most common imagery you’ll find in Alessandri’s work. His work is something that really has to be looked upon rather than described, since the worlds he paints are so far from our plane of existence. Check some out below!
