Edward Paisnel was a serial rapist who went on a 14-year rampage across Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, between 1957 and 1971. While he assaulted his victims, he wore a white rubber mask, a wig, with a nail-studded coat and wristbands, and the getup gives major Michael Myers vibes. Most of his victims were children — his youngest victim was an 8-year-old boy — however, he was also convicted of two assaults on young women waiting for the bus. His wife, Joan Paisnel, who ran a children’s community home on Jersey, said that he had a “low sex drive” so they never had sex. Paisnel had played Santa Claus for the kids in her home, and there were rumors that he had assaulted children from the home, although they were never proven. He was also considered a war hero of sorts, because he had been arrested for stealing food to redistribute to English families during the German occupation of the Channel Islands. In 1971, he was pulled over for running a red light and the police found his costume, which matched the reports they had received from his many victims. He was sentenced to 13 counts of rape and sodomy, and sentenced to 30 years in prison. He served 20, and was released for “good behavior” in 1991, only to die of a heart attack in 1994. Good riddance. I listened to ICMAP’s The Beast of Jersey story and they do a good job of detailing just how sick and nasty this man was. If you’re into that kinda thing, check it out below…
