Immerse Yourself in the Sultry Psychedelic Doom of LORD ELEPHANT “Rumble”

It’s been a while since pop culture has blamed rock n’ roll for the downfall of society. But at one point in history, these licks were a direct line to Satan themself, and just a glimpse of an intoxicating, dark riff like the ones LORD ELEPHANT delivers would suck your soul straight into Hell! Their mesmerizing psychedelic doom feels like flying on leather wings into a cosmic wormhole of total spiritual hedonism. I’m listening to their cover of Link Wray’s “Rumble” and they fucking nailed this sultry tribute. It’s off the upcoming Lord Elephant and Oreyeon split Doom Sessions Vol. 8 EP that comes out on May 5th via Heavy Psych Sounds — you can pre-order it here. Also, for our European readers out there, check the Heavy Psych Sounds Italy fest dates at the bottom of the page! Right now, prepare to serve up your eternal life on a platter as you hit play on our premiere of Lord Elephant’s “Rumble” below…

When we had to decide on a cover song to pay homage to Lord Elephant’s ancestral roots, we knew what to do: take this Link Wray classic and jam on it over and over, adding our personal touch on a fucking piece of rock’n’roll music history! From being the only instrumental tune banned from radio for instigating “criminal behavior,” to being the reason Jimmy Page decided to play the guitar, to its iconic feature in the cult movie Pulp Fiction, “Rumble” has a very deep meaning for us in every aspect. We tried to make it heavier and nastier, covering and expanding a timeless classic with the overwhelming and mesmerizing sound of Lord Elephant.
