No Pride in Genocide! Burn the Colony Down with COFFINBIRTH

COFFINBIRTH

Today I want to share an artist whose work is visually arresting and deeply empowering to any and all humans who want an end to the colonial legacy of oppression and exploitation! She goes by COFFINBIRTH, aka Charlotte Allingham, and she is a queer Wiradjuri and Ngiyampaa woman based in Naarm (Melbourne) who celebrates her people’s living past while she confronts their present living in the tyrannical colonial fantasy that is Australia. Her work challenges the colonizer narrative about the original people and celebrates Blak victory, excellence, and resilience. Below I’ve embedded some of my favorite pieces from her Instagram, but this is just a tiny taste, I could have included 10x as many pieces! She’s a prolific artist with a massive collection of stunning artwork that comes in so many creative forms — you need to check out her Stolen Lands series, her zines and comics, her prints, and her clothing. We need Buffy the Colonizer Slayer in production now.

Charlotte Allingham is a 28 year old Wiradjuri and Ngiyampaa, Queer Woman from central west nsw, with family ties to Condobolin and Ivanhoe areas, currently living in Naarm (melbourne).

Meghan MacRae grew up in Vancouver, Canada, but spent many years living in the remote woods. Living in the shadow of grizzly bears, cougars and the other predators of the wilderness taught her about the dark side of nature, and taught her to accept her place in nature's order as their prey. She is co-founder of CVLT Nation.
