As soon as I hit play on the new EP from EST, I’m struck by the power of their sound. It’s not surface-level power as we define it in our skewed society – oppressive, angry, violent, loud, domineering. It’s a power that comes from depth, from acceptance, from understanding, from wisdom, from peace. A power that’s been honed over the course of thousands of years, sonically towering over us like the mountains that overlook my home. It’s hard to describe the magic that EST makes with their instruments and vocals; it really expands all around me until I’m completely encompassed in it and I’m lifted out of my mundane world into another universe.
