If you’re looking for a soundtrack to your fash-bashing, look no further than FALSE GODS! As soon as I hit play on our exclusive video premiere of “Enemy Territory,” I was transported into the DIY space in my head with the rabid pacing and flailing fists. It looks like precisely the kind of space that a Proud Boy would give a wide berth because he’d end up with blood all over his pretty Fred Perry. The vitriol that False Gods spits all over their new album No Symmetry… Only Disillusion is addictive, and even though it’s tapping into a fury I’ve carried for almost my entire life, it feels extra relevant right now. I’ve known I was in enemy territory since my Sunday school teacher told 6-year-old me I had to accept Jesus into my heart or I’d go to hell. Ever since I take anything that the authorities tell me is the absolute truth, and I flip it over to see what crawls out from underneath. So the furious sludgecore that False Gods delivers their plate of lyrical razorblades on lights a familiar, comforting fire in my belly, a fire that I’ll use to burn the garbage pile of power so that I can plant my seeds in the fertile soil left behind. No Symmetry… Only Disillusion comes out via Seeing Red Records on October 16th – and you can pre-order it here.
