It’s strange times in North America – on one hand I’m seeing people rise up against oppressive systems and come together to form community under seemingly impossible circumstances. On the other hand, there are people stuffing their faces with ignorance, fear, and vitriol in order to stop the inevitable collapse of this deeply rotten society. The collapse is here. Whether we choose to persevere, rebuild, and commune with each other and the life on Earth or suffocate under the weight of our own self-loathing is up to each one of us. If it was up to Hark From the Tomb, this Swedish Black Metal band would like to see us wiped from the face of this once-pristine planet. We’re nasty little parasites who’ve built a world on nasty little religions and there’s no hope – a fiery end is our only fate. And you know, sometimes I just need to deep dive into that kind of energy so that I can burn away the parts of me that are too lazy or comfortable to ask for better from humanity. So right now I’m doing that with our stream of their track “His Will Made Flesh.” It’s a seething sonic condemnation of our species, and if it was able to take physical form it would rise up into some terrifying beast that could lay waste to our puny cities with one putrid breath. It’s off their debut album Let Them Die that comes out September 18th – pre-order it here. Right now, let yourself feel scorn for our worst traits so that you can rise above them!
