Execution and Decay: Brutal Postcards from the Mexican Revolution

One of the bloodiest revolutions in the Americas was the Mexican Revolution of 1910 to 1920. Over the course of that terrible decade, more than 1.5 million people were killed. If you want to brush up on your Mexican Revolution history and impress your friends, don’t look here – the highly entertaining history podcast The Lesser Bonapartes have ten whole episodes dedicated to this gory struggle for power. Here, you’re just going to see some gory visuals that will help with some imagery to accompany their extensive information. These were captured by battlefield photographers who brought home scenes of execution, death and decay. All of these are in the SMU’s Mexican Revolution collection. These aren’t the kind of postcards you’d want to send home to mom.
