What kind of tunes are putting my mental health in a positive state of mind? I would have to say Hardcore, because ever since I was a kid it has been a safe place for me and now even my family. Today I want to share with y’all three outstanding new releases from three amazing bands!
Porcupine – All Is Vapor
One word that comes to mind as I blast Porcupine’s All Is Vapor is fucking remarkable! This band has created a Hardcore album that reeks of creative freedom while remaining punishing as FUCK! All you have to do is bump their title track, “All Is Vapor,” and you will hear for yourself that this band is on some next-level shit when it comes to songwriting! I know when I hear a special band that is pushing their genre forward and I can say with 100% honesty that Porcupine is one of those bands. All is Vapor is one of those records that should be played over and over so that you can experience the brilliance plus decode all of the sonic layers. Respect is due to New Morality Zine for releasing one of my favorite Hardcore Records of 2024. “CONSPIRACY AGAINST THE HUMAN RACE” is a song that takes me places and I fucking love it!
Extinguish – One Less Enemy
Fuck the dumb shit Extinguish‘s One Less Enemy album is one Big Can of Hardcore Brutality!!! I swear as I listen to this record I can feel my muscles growing and I have visions of my hater’s demise. If you have a weak heart, this band is not for you, good thing my heart pumps fuck all racists so I’m good. Mammoth tunes like “Terror Persists” and “Price of Pain” prove that this band can not be fucked with. The vocals on this record are GNARLY AF and make me want to slap the taste out of all of the corrupt leaders of the world. Musically, Extinguish manifests the kind of insane breakdowns that will have circle pits around the globe going bonkers! If and when they play Vancouver me and 10 year old daughter are going to roll for sure. This band gives a fuck about the culture of Hardcore and that comes through on every second of One Less Enemy. I want to say thank you to DAZE // Creator-Destructor Records for always releasing top-notch records and for representing the Harcore community to the fullest.
Take it in Blood – Roadmap of Pain
As the sounds of Take it in Blood’s Roadmap of Pain album bleeds into my ears I can’t think about skateboarding through the streets of Lower Eastside of NYC blasting Hardcore in my headphones. At the same time, I feel the Hardcore energy that still reigns supreme in this hood. This Paris band delivers its songs with the grit of humans who know what it is to struggle. Real talk, I know for a fact the humans behind this band love Hip Hop just as much as they love Hardcore I can feel this fact in all of their songs. As I blast their title track “Roadmap of Pain” I can hear the passion that this band puts into everything that they do. Take it in Blood has something to say and I’m fucking ears because they are that fucking good! The pulverizing breakdowns you will experience on the Roadmap of Pain will not be forgotten. I want to give a HUGE shout to QCHQ for always releasing bands that stand for something!
