As someone who’s only ever lived in a city and never in a small town, I feel the need to clarify that most of us don’t want to trade quality of life for profit. Most of the people I have known aren’t the ones investing in multiple properties and advocating for funding bloated police budgets. We want housing for all and food for all and safety for all, but the wealth and power-hoarding people who climb atop the opioid-stilled bodies are the ones who keep our streets littered with lost souls to use as political pawns. The mournful, psychedelic sounds of MORRISON GRAVES’ “Crane Song” captures the way a city can provide an escape while it lays new concrete foundations on top of your life. Morrison Graves merges psychedelic rock with post-punk to create a captivating sonic tapestry that’s part gothic melancholy and part acid-fueled dance party. It’s off their record Division Rising, a concept album about gentrification, displacement, homelessness, and socio-economical gaps that came out earlier this year — get it here. Today we’re excited to share their new video for “Crane Song” directed by Jon Garcia, watch it here:
