Today I heard something that resonated with me in a profound way. Someone shared a deep wisdom with me that I felt in my soul. They said, “your only job as a human being on this planet is to raise your vibration.” That one sentence hit home for me because imagine where the world would be right now if we were each taught as children to do what it takes to nurture ourselves and live in a state of self-love. Not selfishness, but a true appreciation for ourselves as who we are – that thing we did naturally as infants that was unraveled by navigating a world of damaged adults. And to reach a higher vibration, we need to see what’s tethering us down; what experiences are binding us to grief, anger, disappointment, and hate. The shadows in our soul. I’m traveling on this long journey of the mind as I’m listening to THENIGHTTIMEPROJECT, a progressive doom metal project brought to us by Fredrik and Mattias Norrman of KATATONIA, along with Jonas Sköld and Alexander Backlund of Letters From The Colony. Their music is a cinematic blend of post-rock, prog, psych, and shoegaze, and it’s reminding me that with one simple act of kindness to myself – listening to this gorgeous sonic tapestry – I’m rippling those high vibrations out onto you.
