Music has always been an escape for me. As a child, I discovered that a song could speak to me in a language beyond words and explain the world to me in a way that no adults were able to. As a teenager, I found that I could leave my body and room and life behind and go somewhere I felt understood by traveling on melody and percussion. As an adult, music has truly become intertwined with every aspect of my life—it’s essential to my health and happiness. And while I couldn’t be more excited to experience live music again soon, I’m not talking about the social aspect of shows or the scene that surrounds genres. I’m talking about feeling the actual sonic vibrations in my physical body, understanding its language in my soul, and traveling outside of myself at the speed of sound.
Witnessing these three live videos from TAYNE, filmed live at SS2 Recording, has me reflecting on how much impact sound has on me. They’re like a psychedelic noise whirlwind lifting me out of my reality into a universe ruled by sound and nothing else.
